Mid winter!

Its mid winter in Sydney and we have had a few fantastic days. Though lots of rain and thunder last night.

But the sun is shining today and we are looking forward to a great weekend.

Monday morning I went down to the beach for a morning coffee (after dropping little one off at Kindy, hard days work at home). And there were a few whales playing around in the water – not far from the beach. Stayed and watched them for a few hours before it was time to head back home and do some work.

But how inspiring is it not to watch whales – from land – just a few minutes from home??

Otherwise I take lots of inspiration from the guys who are up in the spacestation at the moment. Following the commander on Twitter and the rest of the guys on facebook. Fantastic jobs they have!

New House – New habits

Finally we are in a new house. After months of looking for a new place to rent we found a large, nice, house and moved in just under a week ago.

It is amazing how much stuff one gathers in a family of 5 – even if we moved just 9 months ago – I wonder where the movingguys found the stuff 🙂

But we are here – and each room has to be cleaned properly before we can move everything in – we probably have higher standards than most people renting in this country – as I dont consider the houses clean after there has been an “end of lease clean” which is supposed to happen – by professional cleaners. So far we have never had that in the houses we have rented – but somehow it is expected from us when we move out. Not sure how that works. But as I have just myself cleaned the old house from top to toe (and I mean everything) I have decided to clean the new home within the first few weeks – in the same manner. Not only do you get the house properly clean – you also see any mishaps that the house had when you move in.

And we will be unpacking a little slower then normal as everything that comes out of a box has to be thought about, if we really need it. This will take longer, but hopefully we will all be able to get rid of some stuff and keep the house nice and uncluttered.

I have also read about new habits and old from Jessicas blog – all about how your habits are a little gardenpatch that needs to be looked after so that old, bad habits dont take over as weed.

The plan is also to get through Get Things done by David Allen this next week and start it as of the week after.

Travelling

Today I am off on a long flight – to the other side of the world.

Flying back to be with family and friends after my grandfather passed away at age 92. He lived a wonderful life and was always a very happy and positive person. During the trip I will contemplate my own way in life and make sure that I live up to his legacy. Being positive and empowering instead of any other way must be the best way forward.

Making sure the I remove all the stress and everything through better organisation. Will listen to some inspiring things on my trip and then when I am back I will kick start a fantastically positive life!

Wonders of little ones

It is amazing with little two-year-olds.

We were at the beach last week, playing in the sand, when I happened to put my handprint on the sand – and Oliver just followed – how much they pick up and want to copy. Their little minds racing along, learning heaps and heaps.

And his thoughts and words that just jumble out, but sometimes fits so well into the situation.

Oh – and the energy when they are happy – I wish I could have some of that.

Thoughts on Goalsetting

Yesterday, talking to a squashfriend, I was given a new perspective to the things that I think about alot.

Talking about goal setting etc, he used the phrase “aim for the stars and if you fall you end up in the trees, aim for the trees and you might fall to the ground”, this I think is great – Well – you should always aim for the top, but I prefer to have a fallback, but this is something I need to work on.

And about setting goals and aiming high I recommend you read the book “How would love respond” by Kurek Ashley. (see previous blogpost).

And as for setting goals – I have added a link to a blog from a friend of mine who has just set a goal to run the Stockholm Marathon 09, Kalle. Good Luck Guys!

And today I was having coffee with a crewfriend of mine and we got talking about all this too – I recommended the above book and the “Celestine Prophecy” by James Redfield and he recommended “The secret”. I will now read that (which the family have read) and come back to what I think and how it ties in with me and my thoughts.

Procrastination

A strange word – but I am very good at it….and last night I practiced it alot – but then I thought – hey – just get on with it – and I did (after reading Jess blog – very inspired after that). Instead of having a cup of tea in front of the tellie – I sat down in the office and dragged out those papers I needed to make some phonecalls to London. Something I have been pushing forward from May…. And last night I called and I feel good – just need to complete a few letters and send and then it will be out of the way.

What a great feeling to get things done! Now just need to keep this going 🙂

November is here…

and it is very much nicer with November in Sydney then Europe…

Today is a lovely day, and yesterday I got started with the new familyblog and moved over from blogspot to our new familysite. And the new thing for me is to make sure that I update each blog often – not everyone everyday – but at least one of them every day.

I have this for my thoughts etc, the familyblog for updates to family and friends, and I am just about to start one in Swedish only where I can test some of my ideas.

Up is the only way!

The only way is up – no point in looking back and planning to go down – unless you really are flying and want to make a stop to visit someone you love..

Have started making sense of the thoughts I have in my head – and have been able to get time to sort them out and get things done. Probably because school holidays are over – I enjoy the routine when school is back (have always liked the first weeks back at school after long holidays). Its great to spend time with the kids – I just need to work on getting my routines working when they are off school.

Back to the thouhts and ideas I have – I needed to get some kind of blog going for family news – currently all is on blogspot (oliverandco.blogspot.com) but I hope to be able to move it onto the familywestling.com sites. My problem at the moment is that this site is in Swedish  and I would like to write in English too as we have many friends in the UK not speaking Swedish.  But I have decided not to think too much about it and just get started  – when I get started it will be in the blogroll.

Thoughts all over everywhere

Have had a few down days, could have been a technical dealay and I went back to stand – but today has been a good day. Thought about smiling as much as possible, and it really has helped me feel better and get more things done. Still a little too much to get done – but slowly getting there.
With my head full of ideas about what to write, where and how to write, forums to use to get thoughts where I want them, and what to do in the future, there has been little time to spend on the computer (it has been schoolholidays and kids at home for three weeks). And whenever I get a few minutes to sit down in the office, I read emails, update facebook and just move papers around.

But hopefully this will now change – Happy Thoughts!
