The Joy of Tidying

Having previously read the books by Marie Kondo and lately seen the TV show together with the family, I decided to re-read her latest book. Having read this previously, this time I took in a lot more. Started with the Laundry, a room that has been annoying me for a while.

Before the tidying started
And this is the result

7 pounds – a film that makes you think!

7poundsJust recently we watched the movie, 7 Pounds. I had no previous idea or thoughts what the film was about and I was pleasantly surprised.

A movie that makes you think about various things – we have since used this film as a start to many different conversations with the teenaged kids – everything from what not to do when driving to what is important in life and how you might feel in the same situation.

Think of others and the world will be a better place for all. Help others when you can, even if the reward to you is not instant, something great will happen to you another time 🙂

Life to the Max

After having been to the “Life to the Max” seminar with Kurek Ashley last weekend I am full of energy and feel amazing. Now it is time to move onwards and upwards in life.

The ignition was when I read the book “How would Love respond” by Kurek Ashley a year ago – it is an amazing book and it worked as a collection box for me. All the things I have learned and embraced (if not fully but for periods of time) during my life was gathered togehter in one place. I have since expanded the box by reading and learning more things I enjoy and embrace.

Kurek hosted a workshop, here in Sydney, which I attended together with my husband and we had a great time. Kurek is a great inspiration and during the workshop I felt I got the tools to make this all come together to enhance my life enormously.

This blog will be the first step and I will share my ideas and thoughts to be able to help many others in the quest for a fantastic life.

Re-start

Its spring and I am about to restart most stuff that goes on in my life.
My latest jobcontract ended a few weeks ago – but it all turned out good as I have to drive the Husband to work (he has a broken leg and is unable to drive). Now I am looking into my two little businesses that I am about to start.
Currently just gathering thoughts, ideas, goals and making a businessplan to be able to move these forward.

I am also in the middle of the process to make GTD by David Allen work for me. It has been great fun and together with some other books and ideas from now and my past experiences, I feel now that I am moving forward.

Currently being a stay-at-home-mum, the original way of GTD will have to be tweaked to fit me, the family and the types of projects that are in a home environment and not in a workplace. Its fun and I hope to be able to develop and share these ideas soon.

And a nice springclean of the house is on the cards too – hopefully the brain will get its share too.

New House – New habits

Finally we are in a new house. After months of looking for a new place to rent we found a large, nice, house and moved in just under a week ago.

It is amazing how much stuff one gathers in a family of 5 – even if we moved just 9 months ago – I wonder where the movingguys found the stuff 🙂

But we are here – and each room has to be cleaned properly before we can move everything in – we probably have higher standards than most people renting in this country – as I dont consider the houses clean after there has been an “end of lease clean” which is supposed to happen – by professional cleaners. So far we have never had that in the houses we have rented – but somehow it is expected from us when we move out. Not sure how that works. But as I have just myself cleaned the old house from top to toe (and I mean everything) I have decided to clean the new home within the first few weeks – in the same manner. Not only do you get the house properly clean – you also see any mishaps that the house had when you move in.

And we will be unpacking a little slower then normal as everything that comes out of a box has to be thought about, if we really need it. This will take longer, but hopefully we will all be able to get rid of some stuff and keep the house nice and uncluttered.

I have also read about new habits and old from Jessicas blog – all about how your habits are a little gardenpatch that needs to be looked after so that old, bad habits dont take over as weed.

The plan is also to get through Get Things done by David Allen this next week and start it as of the week after.

Up is the only way!

The only way is up – no point in looking back and planning to go down – unless you really are flying and want to make a stop to visit someone you love..

Have started making sense of the thoughts I have in my head – and have been able to get time to sort them out and get things done. Probably because school holidays are over – I enjoy the routine when school is back (have always liked the first weeks back at school after long holidays). Its great to spend time with the kids – I just need to work on getting my routines working when they are off school.

Back to the thouhts and ideas I have – I needed to get some kind of blog going for family news – currently all is on blogspot (oliverandco.blogspot.com) but I hope to be able to move it onto the familywestling.com sites. My problem at the moment is that this site is in Swedish  and I would like to write in English too as we have many friends in the UK not speaking Swedish.  But I have decided not to think too much about it and just get started  – when I get started it will be in the blogroll.

UNWORRY

What a great word!

I saw it the first time on a large billboard when out driving the other day – and that is all it said. This week it transpired it is part of an ad campaign (http://unworry.com.au/ – and the ad is funny and makes you happy)

But for me, at this point in time, it is perfekt. I am trying to get myself organised enough to move me and my life forward in a new direction and I do alot of thinking. And as usual I do alot of procrastination – but I am getting better at not doing it. But there are so many things that need doing that I easily get caught up in the thinking and planning what to do next instead of action.

Now this word made me feel better – and add to that “Just do it” (yes – from another ad, I know) – I am now more motivated to get moving forward.
