Niclas and I went down to the Northern Beaches for lunch one day after having dropped Oliver off at a friends house. We had not been down there for a while, and found a lovely lunch restaurant in North Narrabeen. Coffee on the beach, which was closed due to big waves.
In the afternoon, we went for a walk down to the Coal Loader centre in Waverton where there is an Art exhibition. 99 artworks exhibited in the park.
Today, Oliver went sailing for the third time at MHYC, where he sails an optimist. He enjoys going and gives us many entertaining explanations of what they have learned and how you sail.
The weather this past week has been lovely and warm and today Niclas and Sanna went to Chinamans Beach when Oliver sailed – the beach is just around the corner from the boat club and Oliver sails just outside the beach. It was nice to see how far he has come. And we managed to get some lovely photos after having had a nice long dip in the sea.
Sunrise on the first day at work for Sanna
On Friday, I, Sanna, started working again. A 6-month contract as Project Administrator at North West Transit Link – the office is in the city for another month and then moves out to Macquarie park. More on the project to come next week.
It is amazing how suddenly time starts to move fast again. The first month in Sydney time moved lovely and slow – and then suddenly – wham – it flies again – and that is without me working yet.
Oliver started school on the 28th of January – the school seems to be a great school and his teacher very nice. He gets along well in the school work and have started to make some friends.
Oliver went from not knowing how to do his shoe laces – and then on the 2nd day of school, he learnt to do this himself.
He also started sailing for the term at MHYC, the same boatclub where Niclas sails. First day he was not convinced about the sailing – especially not before we got there or he got in the boat (convinced by one of the trainiers), Though when he came back in from the sailing, he was very happy. He has also been looking forward to the sailing all week.
Niclas started work on the 28th too and is getting into the job now.
Fredrik is busy with the robot build season and Jessica is working at T2 aswell as looking for work, as I am I (looking for work that is).
On Saturday, when Oliver was away camping and Jessica and Fredrik was working, Niclas and I decided to go for a walk down to the North Sydney Pool and have a swim. It was a beautiful day and it turned out to be the warmest since we arrived.
From Waverton, past North Sydney and Lavender Bay and round Luna Park to the Pool – where we decided to keep walking around the waters. Continued under the Bridge, over into Kirribilli and then some.
The Opera House from Kirribilli
Passed some Yacht clubs, saw some beautiful old wooden Skiff sailingboats and then ended up having coffee in Kirribilli Village before we went to the pool for some swimming.
We now have a new barbeque that fits nicely onto our smaller balcony. It is nice to have one again and we have cleaned both balconies to be able to use them more.
Breakfast on the balcony can get warm as the sun arrives there at 7 am and stays until 10 am, but for lunch and dinner and anything in between, which is very nice.
Our first BBQ was had last night we plan to have one tonight too.
A few days ago Niclas and Sanna went for a walk to Waverton station, through the woods. Then a couple of days later, we took Jessica and Oliver on an evening walk to the same place. It is amazing to think that this is not far from where we live – we did take the train home one station.
Oliver and Jessica enjoyed the walk as much as we did.
A couple of wonderful days have been had here in Sydney. We went to the beach for the first time this time around yesterday, when we went to Balmoral Beach and met up with some friends. Had a fantastic couple of hours and ended the time with lunch
Oliver enjoyed the sand and built a sandman.
Today, we went down to the Olympic pool in North Sydney withOliver and his friend – and spent a couple of lovely hours there.
After a week now (or just about) it feels as if we are getting into a normal life living.
After 5 days here we are getting back into routines and feeling at home again.
Most of the stuff we brought (only 30 kgs each plus hand luggage) have been unpacked and we are getting organised.
It is different to move into a 3-bed flat where Jessica and Fredrik have lived for two years together. Oliver, Niclas and Sanna share the master bedroom. We have a sofabed and a single bed, which makes it into a nice room daytime. Even managed to get a desk in there.
Niclas and Sanna are busy looking for work, as well as Jessica who would like to start working fulltime after 4 years at Uni where she has just completed a Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience with an Honours degree.
Fredrik is working with First Robotics during the summer break (he works there in his spare time during Uni). The build season started on the 4th of Jan and as well as mentoring one of the Australien teams, he runs a Robot Camp for kids in juniorschool. Oliver attended a camp yesterday and today.
Oliver had a great day and is looking forward to building his own (he brought his MindStorm robot with him).
The weather here in Sydney is great and we are enjoying the heat and the sun. Not yet had the time to go to the beach – been full on – but today Niclas is out sailing on Wailea and Sanna will head to the nearest pool for som sun.
